The first half of the year has been very exciting in setting the future of the EU nursing research with the ENRF carefully monitoring the work of the European Commission in this quite intense and challenging time for the nurses and the nursing profession, both at national and EU levels, with a whole profession fighting to change health and social ecosystem in the EU.

The next crucial step will be the proposal on the next research framework programme – Horizon Europe (FP9) that will determine the way forward of the EU in relation to boost innovation and research. For the ENRF and the nursing community it is crucial to see a concrete support to health and nursing research, as we strongly believe that to achieve coherent and impactful health and social policies in Europe, decision-makers cannot leave nursing research and innovation out of consideration.

But before continuing our hard work, we all need to take a well-deserved break and recharge batteries to face the upcoming months and a busy EU agenda. Hence, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a restful summer holidays and hope you come back full of energy.
